As you are aware SeniorHangouts was conceptualised to mitigate the constraints of the COVID posed during early 2020 and since its inception from 1st Nov 2020 the SeniorHangouts has supported more than - 2500 registered users,
- 21000 consecutive live participants,
- 50000 views of the library recordings,
- 600 topics of discussion in the Forum,
- 2000 LIVE technical sessions,
- 739000 minutes of sessions,
- 500 recordings in the library.
SeniorHangouts is much more than technical sessions and helped several people beat social isolation, make new friends and connect with other SeniorNet member across New Zealand. From the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South, members of SeniorNet connected through SeniorHangouts and sustained the digital learning. This paves way for total digital transformation of SeniorNet processes which augments the SeniorNet learning centres and enhances the user experience of the members.
We are glad that the whole world along with New Zealand is slowly heading back to pre-COVID routines of face-to-face in-person experiences. While this process is unfolding itself, the role of SeniorHangouts has its own relevance where it could support members of SeniorNet with mobility issues, events of bad weather, support tutor deficit learning centres, support remote members, interconnection and interaction between members of SeniorNet members spread all over New Zealand.
The Federation of SeniorNet Societies committee is currently evaluating the future of SeniorHangouts and how it may align its placement with the vision of SeniorNet.

I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of this revolutionary project of SeniorHangouts. The primary aim of SeniorHangouts was to provide a virtual learning platform for SeniorNet's members during COVID, which has been accomplished and the project is now being handed over to the next line of leaders in the SeniorNet. My last day as Manager of SeniorHangouts is 30 Sep 2022. My best wishes to all of you in all your future endeavors and I shall leave SeniorHangouts with a great wealth of learnings, fond memories and invaluable love and affection you have shown to me. I take this opportunity to thank each one of you who have helped this program to be a great success. Please forgive me if I could not meet your expectation in any way. I will strive to make it up for it as and when the opportunity comes. I remain eternally grateful to you all.
